Now I'd like to learn the easy way....ask people who know.
I recently purchased a video card with DVI out, VGA out and TV out.
I also purchased a DVI to HDMI cable to run to my TV for movies.
I now learn that DVI does not caryy sound.
Should I just return the cable and buy an s-video cable.
Or should I have purchased something else entirely.
I also noticed when I tried wathing a movie through Cyberlink DVD
I could see all the controls but no movie.
Any help would be apreciated greatly.
My vid card is, ATI Radeon 9250

I have pretty much the same hardware setup (except using a Radeon X850). I ran the audio out of my sound card by using a patch cord to split the audio out into 2 RCA inputs that I plugged into my TV. Worked fine. I used BSplayer to play the files. My wireless mouse had enough range to control Bsplayer from where I sat, although just barely.
This was for playing hi-def AVI files (XVID) that wouldn't play on my standalone DVD player due to the resolution. I've never played regular DVDs on my computer to watch on the TV but I don't think there would be any problems doing it the same way.
S-video doesn't carry audio, either.
Good luck
