  1. Just (this evening) started exploring this and it looks ideal for when I want to author non DVD compliant MPEG without re-compressing.

My question here is this. I've got two MPEG's (one is 544 x 576, the other 720 x 576) of a concert that I'd like to author using one single menu button(In other words so the second MPEG runs straight after the first without any further need for menu selection)

At the moment, I can only seem to drop each MPEG onto the menu screen meaning they'll both have their own menu 'links'. My authoring tool of choice thus far has been TMPGenc DVD Author and that allows multiple MPEGS to be dropped into each 'track' - but only if they are the same resolution. Does GUI For DVDAuthor allow something similar weith MPEG's of differing resolutions, or is there any 'trick' I can do with it to get it to do what I want?

Sorry if that's not very clear!!

The problem is that video assets with different resolutions must be in different Video TitleSets (VTS). If you had successfully patched your non-compliant mpeg to look like it was 720 x 576, them GUIforDVDAuthor should see it this way and allow you to put them both on the same track. If it sees past the patching attempt and won't allow it, then there is a good chance it won't author anyway.

Regardless, what you are looking for is a bridge across the titlesets. You might be able to achieve this by inserting a blank menu with an auto action to just immediately play the next track and link from mobie 1 to menu to movie 2. How you do this in GUIForDVDAuthor is for you to discover.

  3. If no chapter menus are required, that's quite easy. Enable 'Use titlesets' and select the start action 'Play movie' and the end action 'Next title' in the project defaults. Add both videos. If the button for the second movie 'disturbs' you, hide it: Use a text type button with a single space character as text, do not use any gifmasks and untag 'normal visible'.
The second movie will start automatically after the first, but there may be a short pause (depending on the player usually 0.1 to 0.5 sec). If you want/need chaptermenus, that's also possible, but a chaptermenu with access to chapters from movie1 AND movie2 can only be made with some 'tricks' (use of registers and pre commands for the titlesets).

    Do NOT patch the resolution(s)!
