Hi,
Sorry if nobody can relate, but does anyone know why every channel is playing fine, other than the center channel? It *seems* fine when listening to a DVD, but when using Audition, nothing plays through the center channel.
I thought I following the speaker hookup instructions properly... it seemed rather straightforward. Might I be missing something?
Thanks,
Justin

Is this one specific disc ?
Are you sure it is 5.1, and not 4.1 or 4.0 ?
Are you sure you are sending a digital signal through to the amp ?
Depending on how the surround sound is mixed, there might not be a centre or even a sub channel (or they may not have anything in them).Read my blog here.

Hi,
Actually, I know that these discs have all 6 channels, because I dissected them with BeSweet.
However, "Are you sure you are sending a digital signal through to the amp ?"... I'm new to my 5.1 speakers... I don't mean to sound dense, but what do you mean by this?
Thanks,

What are your speakers plugged into ?
If it is a seperate AV amplifier, then you have to connect your player to it via either 6 seperate leads (if your player has a built-in AC3 decoder), or an optical or coaxial digital connection. If it is connected via a simple pair of RCA leads, then you are outputting a downmixed stereo signal to your amp, which will probably then use ProLogic II to spread it out again, creating a false centre channel along the way.
If you are using only a PC, are you sure that Audition can use the full set of speakers via your sound card ?
If you playback the front left and right together, do you get something from the centre channel ?Read my blog here.

Actually, it was a bit of a pain to setup. The center channel is connected to the subwoofer. The subwoofer is connected to the FL, FR, SL and SR via 4 color-coded cables. Then, the subwoofer has yet another cable with 3 connectors to go to my sound card. There's an optional adapter, which allows me to connect those 3 connectors to the soundcard with just one plug, which is what I'm doing. I'm not sure which way to plug the 3 cables into my sound card without using the adapter. I really wanted a 5.1 setup, so obviously both the speakers and sound card are 5.1. Regarding Audition, I would *think* that it can use all 6, but I'm not sure how to tell if it can't (other than the fact that I'm not hearing output from each channel). The weird thing is that, yes, I do get sound from the center channel when playing the FL and FR simultaneously.
Excuse me, I have to go pull my hair out now, heh
