I have been using dvd shrink to back up dvds, for the first while it worked great, then it started really slowing down, i checked with windows task manager, and explorer.exe seems to use ALOT of memory at times 100% when dvd shrink is running. I have a sony dvd re-writer with nero ultra 6, and I use dvd fab decrypter at times as well any ideas?

1. Close any open app before running DVD Shrink
2. Check your hard drive for free space

Does DVD Shrink still store info somewhere about the movies you are compressing? I remember when I actually used to use that it would get cluttered and needed to be cleaned out.

In Nero you might have an option Nero Toolkit, use the Nero info tool option, run it and look under configuration and all drives should have dma enabled, if not, go into Control panel on your computer , using strat/control panel/system/hardware/device manager/dvd/cd drives, uninstall the drive. Re-boot and your pc shopuld automatically enable and reinstall.
Now my little sugarplum,,your PC details do suggest a low end spec for dvd burning, are you running anything else while Burning as you shouldn't be.PAL/NTSC problem solver.

Terry......
I ran the nero info tool, and dma is enabled for all drives, and dvd shrink is the only thing running, it starts off great 1500+ kb/s but quickly drops off to +/- 500 kb/s this happens no matter if I have anything else running or not. There doesnt seem to be any reason, it worked fine for like a month with other programs running, then it just started slowing down, when I stop windows explorer in the taskbar it works great, otherwise very slow. Its just kind of a pain to have to stop explorer every time I run dvd shrink. I thought it might have something to do with the anti-virus I run, EZ trust, but it doesnt make a difference when I disable that either. any suggestions? -
I have solved the problem!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! it was EZ trust anti-virus...as soon as I uninstalled that piece of crap everything went back to normal, I run dvd shrink and shut NOTHING else down and have speeds of 1500-1800 kb/s. Thanks for the assistance, please pass on to ANYONE you know, DO NOT use EZ trust anti-virus
