Can you request fedex or ups??? Than you'd have the other company as a backup.

I've used tigerdirect two or three times without a problem.

I've always been satisfied with everything I've ordered from TigerDirect. I've never ordered anything that big, but I wouldn't anticipate any troubles.

It got somewhat an okay rating at resellerratings.com but most people seem to buy their large electronic goods (tv's especially, speakers, recievers, etc) at onecall.com and gotten their stuff in perfect shape.

Costco has a 56" for $1665. (This price includes shipping but does not include tax.) If you're not a Costco member you can still purchase items from their on-line store for 5% more, if I remember correctly. Costco has an excellent return policy: full refund within 12 months, just return the item to any of their outlets.

    http://www.costco.com/Browse/Product.aspx?Prodid=11041931&whse=BC&topnav=&browse=

If you are a Costco member, go to one of their outlets and check out more TVs. Their prices might not always be the best, but no one can beat their return policy.

I'd be wary about anything being shipped that size- very easy to get damaged and it is a pain in the arse to send stuff back if it is damaged.

Personaly i never buy anything that big or expensive mailorder.

Much easier and safer to walk into someplace local see it and pick it up then you know there is no damage and if something does happen it's less hassle.

As for tigerdirect, i made an order from them once a few years ago, got it, it was not what i thought it was supposed to be and they would not let me return it for a refund or an exchange so screw them!!
I would never consider buying anything from them ever again, not a snowballs chance in hell!!

Denvers Dawgs if you want to buy a LCD TV I'd suggest you go into a retail store in your town. Because if you order one online and the LCD TV isn't up to par or is damaged in transit, you'll have to pay to ship the thing back.

Surely if its arrived damaged you'd ring the company in question and ask them to collect it ? You would this side of the pond anyways.

A while ago when I was building my current computer I ordered a case and an 80 GB hard drive with a rebate attached from TigerDirect.

Even after calling and being assured that the case would work with a p4 motherbard (Pentium 4 was still fairly new at the time) I recieved a case with no P4 secondary power supply. Useless. I called and politely explained my situation in detail. So they offered to replace the case. Again, I was assured that they would send me a case with the secondary power supply.

When the replacement arrived, not only did it not have the p4 power supply, it was the EXACT SAME CASE! So I shipped this one back to them also and requested a refund. So I paid to ship 2 cases back to them. I paid damn near $20 for nothing. I finally ended up buying a case at a local PC shop.

When the hard drive finally arrived it was very poorly packed. I just had a plastic casing to protect it- no peanuts or even packing paper. It was just left to rattle around in the box. By the time the idiots at UPS got it to me I was able to reach inside the box (without opening it)
and grab the drive which at this point was half out of the plastic casing. Amazingly it worked so I didn't file a claim with UPS. Although I should have. It didn't last that long.

If I remember rightly that was the time the UPS driver rang my front door and ran like a little girl. I was pretty close to the front doot. 15-20 seconds maybe. when I got there he was already gone. I looked down to find a battered mishapen box.

There was also no rebate form. When I called they said I was supposed to print it out from their website. I was out of ink or my home printer was broken at the time. I forget. But they really made me feel like it was a huge pain in the ass. But they finally agreed to mail me one. I never saw it. But at that point I really didn't feel like chasing them down over $40-$60 or whatever it was.

I'm sure mine was an isolated incident, but once was enough for me. I am done doing business with them.

No, the item is too big. Mail/shippers cannot be trusted.
    And no, Tigerdirect sucks.

  17. They can't suck any worse than Samsung, serious reliability issues on virtually all their consumer electronics.
