Every few days I get ads from tigerdirect about barebones Pc kits, all the parts needed but I would need to build it and purchase an OS. Has anyone bought one of these advertised barebone kits? Rre they good to high quality components?

I bought one from them about 7 or 8 years ago. Quality was good at the time. But when I was looking to build myself a new rig recently I priced tiger and newegg and for the price/quality/service I went with newegg. They don't really have many pre-built barebone kits but it you shop around newegg you can get all the parts you need to build your pc for about the same if not cheaper than tiger and you will get more customization that way.

I got a the parts for a complete rig minus the hard drive and OS for $233.00
    2gb Kingston ram
    Lite-on OEM dvd burner
    AMD Athlon 64 X2 5200 Brisbane 2.7GHz Socket AM2
    GIGABYTE GA-M61PME-S2P motherboard
    Cheap black case

So in short for me newegg was the better deal. If you want a pre-built case/motherboard then go with tiger

Short answer is "sometimes". I'm a semi-frequent shopper at Tiger, and have never had a bad experience with them, but sometimes their "barebones" kits are not as good as they sound. Read through the full specs to make sure the components you're looking for are included and compare the prices with competitors.

Go with Newegg if you're looking to build yourself a computer. They have barebones but you'd be better off building the pc by yourself piece by piece. You can get good deals on hardware from Newegg. Subscribe to their newsletter and you'll get the deals that come with free shipping and/or instant savings too.
