Toshiba DVD+R Burner

I have a Toshiba Satellite M70 with a Built-in Matshita UJ-841S DVD Super-Multi Double Layer Drive:
Read: CD-ROM(24X), CD-R(24X), CD-RW(10X), DVD-ROM(8X), DVD-R(8X), DVD-RW(4X), DVD+R(8X), DVD+RW(4X), DVD-RAM(5X), DVD+R(DL)(2.4X), DVD-R(DL)(2X)
Write: CD-R(24X), CD-RW(10X), DVD-R(8X), DVD-RW(4X), DVD+R(8X), DVD+RW(4X), DVD-RAM(5X), DVD+R(DL)(2.4X), DVD-R(DL)(2X)

Is there a firmware update for my Model
of DVD Burner, for the new speed disks, as DVD+R(8X) is the highest disk mine can burn from?

There's only one firmware for your drive.

If your drive can only burn max 8x spd then that's it. Here's a link from CdFreaks.com regarding your dvd burner.
