I am thinking of buying a d-dr5. I see it has a firewire hookup. If I wanted to export my finshed dvd video project fom my computer to the d-dr5 could this be possiable? If this can be done, what type of files would I export, VOB, TS......?

No. Some DVD Recorders will allow you to send DV across the firwire from the PC to the recorder to create a disc, but you cannot send oyu DVD project this way.

Basically I wanted to be able to use the set top player as a burner for my projects to take the load off my computer burner. What player do you know of that will do this for under $200 and still give a decent picture?

None. They are desktop standalone devices, not extensions of your PC. It would be cheaper to buy an external USB2 burner for your desktop.

So something like the sony dvdirect vrd20 would probably work for multi purposes? Just wondering if that would be the same situation?
