  1. Hi There..
I've a little problem that can't be solved for me..
I wanna convert DVD movies to vcd but I want the subtitles to be in it..(Not switchable) so no one can turn them off for the subtitles are part of the picture now..
so can any one tell me about a good software that gives me a high resolution and a subbed movie no matter if the converted dvd movie needs more than one cd..

    THANKS IN ADVANCE

    Hi caesarhawy,

I've never done this before, but if I were I'd try this way:

    1) Rip the DVD to your hard drive as one VOB. There are numerous ripping tools - some can rip to one VOB, others will do multiple VOBs that can then join together using other tools.

    2) Extract the subtitles from the DVD - you'll need to read up on how to do this.

    3) Load the single VOB with the whole movie into VirtualDubMod.

    4) Use one of the guides from here:

    www.videohelp.com/guides.php?howtoselect=5#5;20

...to add the subs to the movie.

    5) Frameserve from VirtualDubMod to your MPEG1 encoder. MPEG1 is the format for VCD.

    I know it's high level - but I guess it's a start. Good luck...

I'm afraid "VCD" and "high resolution" are mutually exclusive, as VCD is 352x288/240 (pal/ntsc) resolution. The very best to hope for, is like a slightly worn VHS tape.
That said, take a look at this guide. It even includes subtitle handling.
