Just bought a pack of Maxell dvd-r which states on the package that they are 8x. I checked them with dvd infopro and it showed the following:
Manufacturer Rated Speed >=4.0x 5540KBps
Available Write Descriptor CLV 4.0x 5540KBps
Available Write Descriptor CLV 2.0x 2770KBps
Available Write Descriptor CLV 1.0x 1385KBps
Write Strategy Speed 4.0x 5540KBps
Does this mean that they are not rated 8x? I only have a 4x burner but always buy 8x and burn at 4x. Other 8x disks that I have show as 8x in dvd infopro.
The media code is MXL RG03.
Thanks in advance.

The speed will also depend on your Burner and how it reads the media. You can try upgrading your DVD Burner firmware to a newer one and that may change the burn speed that DVDinfopro reported...

Thanks Bodyslide, I am up to date with firmware. I was just surprised that it didn't show a rated speed of 8x when other disks had. I also downloaded dvd identifier and it showed 4x as well, so you are right, it must be the way my burner reads the disk.
Thanks.
