problems burning dvd

iam recently having problems burning dvd files to disc. im using version 6 of nero but when i want to burn a file i just get a burn failure error message before it gets beyond 1% of burning, sometimes it has burned 100% but i often get no message saying burn successful and so its just a blank disc . iv tried the settings and unistalled the software but still fails to burn. i dont think its a problem with hard disc space. iv no problems however burning vcds and music cds with Nero. iv treid all the discs i have and dont think there faulty.

I would take a look at the Nero log. It generates a fairly complete listing when it burns a disc. This site will show you how to read it: http://forum.digital-digest.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=45942

Which exact version of Nero are you using? If you are burning from Shrink, there are problems with the newer versions of Nero. I usually use the 'DVD-Video' icon and just drop my VOBs, etc. in the VIDEO_TS folder and burn. For Shrink, I use IMGBurn instead.
