Two possible problems: Nero is not that great of a DL burner. I never use it for that. And Ridata works usually with some burners, but the Verbatim DL still has the better compatibility of the DL discs out there. I would change that first. Then use a different burning program. The old standby DVD Decrypter is a solid burner for DL backups, ISO read> ISO write. Simple enough.

If you plan to get serious with DL burns, PgcEdit is a good program to get familiar with, as mentioned.

Unfortunately, DL creation is still in it's infancy. It's not near as dependable and solid as single layer burning. Layer breaks are a problem with some burning software. And so far the only truly dependable media seems to be Verbatim.

And, as mentioned, you need a fairly new Nero version to do DL, I believe 6.3 or better.

my main reason for this dl burn is cause i cant seem to shrink a copy of 'hostel' that i bought...
i ripped it with fab-decrypter and it worked but shrink wawnt accept it.

There are some features in a retail Nero that are not present in the OEM (that came bundled with some DVD rewriters. The latest Nero 6 is 6.6.1.4; however, on the two occasions that I authored DVDs that required DL media (from Adobe Encore & DVD-Lab Pro), even when the DL break was specified in the authoring, Nero didn't ask for anything concerning where to put the layer break and burned on its merry way, putting an additional chapter for a layer break it chose of its own accord. Nasty. For everything else, though, Nero is OK. For just backing up DVDs the best method is to decrypt with DVDDecrypter (if it can handle it, otherwise RiptIt4Me), then burning the resulting ISO with the latest ImageBurn (which is authored by the same person; DVD Decrypter's DVD-burning portion has some bugs). For your own authored DVDs, most DVD authoring programs will allow creation of an ISO which can then also be burned with ImageBurn. I have not tried Nero 7 yet to see if it now consistently respects layer breaks set in other DVD authoring programs. As for DL media, as the others have said, Verbatim is consistently OK; also Memorex (for some reason). Imation was OK (4 out of 5) but the worst was Ritek (ALL 5 failed, LG 4167B DVD-rewriter).
For the nth time, with the possible exception of certain Intel processors, I don't have/ever owned anything whose name starts with "i".

As has been mentioned you should be able to use any iso creation software and use the iso to burn with dvd decrypter onto the dual layer disc.

so i changed the video ts folder using ImgTool Classic and it worked fine.
then i burned the image with decrypter to the +R DL and it worked fine.

however when i put the dvd into a player...it sais no disk.

could it be that the player just doesnt like the media?
