You can try use the subst command, start->run and type
    subst X: c:\folder

it wont be the same as a daemon tools mounted dvd though.

or make an iso from the video_ts folder with imgtool or dvd shrink.

Is there a reason you need to mount it, or are you just trying to watch it?

CyberLink PowerDVD will mount and play VIDEO_TS files just as if they were a DVD.

    Good luck, jimbo

MPC will play from a VIDEO_TS folder by opening the VIDEO_TS.IFO file (or whatever that's named)

What's the difference between a DVD and a DVD disc with the AUDEO_TS and VIDEO_TS file structure on it? Is there something additional thats added when Shrink or some other app creates an ISO? Seems like if there is no difference, you could backup a DVD by using Windows Explorer to simply copy the files from one disc to another (assuming SL discs - I haven't used DL discs, so I'm guessing that could also throw a wrench in the works).

I'm not talking about backing up commercial discs of course.

yeah you can do a non-commercial disk that way...

and .iso is an 'image' of a disk that most burning programs will recognise and burn. the VIDEO_TS is the actual file folder on the dvd, containing everything in its raw, file format. if you were to examine an .iso with a program like IsoBuster, you'd see the VIDEO_TS folder right there.

Think of it this way: DVD is just that: a DVD, with some info on it.

ISO is an "image". Think DVD info, but shrunk to a single file, kinda like a large newspaper shrunk to a microfiche/microfilm, but if you got a reader you can read it just the same. A disk image can be mounted as if its a disk, or burned to a disk.

DVD with VIDEO_TS folder is a valid VIDEO DVD (i.e. DVD containing common Video data) playable in any DVD Video Player. It follows the "standard" format.
