I am a real newbie. I just finalized a disk and it plays fine on my computer. The included software let's me copy to another disk, but the file itself is .VOB (which I understand is MPEG2?) I wanted to upload it to something like YouTube or some other sharing service so my family can view it. I tried using AVS editor 3.3 and a 10 minute video took a long time to make into WMV and is 2.1gigs. I have not tried using UBS to transfer to the computer - since I was hoping i could easily use the dvds. Is there a good program that makes the process painless? Ideally i would like to edit the raw video - at least cut out scenes that are unnecessary. I apologize if this was answered in the past, I did not find anything in my searches that specifically addressed this.

    Thanks.

No matter what you upload to YouTube....YouTube will then convert it to FLASH video(.flv).
A simple "chop" of a .vob file can be done quite easily with something like MPEG-VCR or even other free simple editors.
I use Virtualdub to edit...save it as an .avi file (yep...it will be a HUGE file by comparison to the original)....then I use Riva FLV Encoder to create an FLV file....upload to YouTube.
The only problem I see you encountering with Virtualdub MPEG is the audio.
