  1. Recently my Plextor PX-716UF (External USB) DVD writer stopped recognizing Movie DVDs. Old and new, only the store bought ones. The ones I make work fine. It still burns great and non movie discs work just fine. That is that if the disc is DVD and not a movie it will work, it will even play movies (in DVD format) that are on the non-movie disk. (I used the xbox magazine demo DVD, which has a DVD movie on it).

I am very suspicious this is some kind of new root kit that identifies disk format and refuses to play commercial movie DVDs. Has any one heard of this?

  3. Auto play is turned off. It never shows up as there in any way. In MY COMPUTER I can see the drive but never the DVD. And it only happens with Movie DVDs. No program will see the Movie either (incl DVDShrink, DVDDecrypter, DVDCopy, CyberLink DVD Player, Media Player, or Windows Explorer) I get a no disc present error. All DVDs that are not movies work. Discs with DVD Format movies in their content work, as in Xbox demo discs and the added content DVDs that come with special edition xbox games.

  4. I have found my problem -- rootkit. Trying to remove it. Let you know if it works.

Apparently the DRM program has a list of software it allows.

  5. See my other post too. I had this virus, apparently it was exploited by a Trojan I picked up. I had to use ewido to clean it (it reinstalled for about a week-then was no longer detected), then the problem was solved when I updated anyDVD.
