Hi,
Whenever I load up either Sony Soundforge 7 or Ony Vegas 6.0b, the splash screen appears, disappears and then nothing happens until literally five minutes later, when the program loads.Any ideas what this could be ? Thanks
Basic System Specs:
AMD FX-60
2GB RAM
VIA K8T890 chipset
Geforce 7900 GTX

Don't know about SF7 - never had any problems with it - but with Vegas 6, the media catalogue (which is essentially a SQL Server database) can slow down the loading times. If you don't use it, you can disable it in preferences, then uninstall it completely. I would start by disabling it, just to see if it is the cause.
If it isn't, defrag the HDD, and monitor your task manager while these programs load.Read my blog here.

I tried all these. I even tried reinstalling my operating system (XP) but it still takes forever to load. Thanks for your response though.

Have you tried contacting Sonic Foundry? I had an issue when upgrading to Sound Forge 7 which caused a similiar issue. I forget what the solution was but within 5 minutes I was up and running again.

I haven't yet no. I thought it was best to do a little research of my own first. But thanks, I think I'll go do that now.
I have noticed that as a result rundll32.exe hangs whenever I shut my computer down. And every time I load vegas up rundll32 loads and doesn't close down when vegas closes, so I end up with loads of them.
