Problem description: The problem is that the player immediately crashes upon execution. The Divx player is the only utility I have that does this.
Attempted fixes:
*I have tried uninstalling all DivX software, including the codec.
*When that didn't work. I tried uninstalling again, but this time, going into the registry and deleting every DivX related entry or folder. I have also deleted the Divx plugins for my Firefox browser. I have used the registry cleaner feature in Crap Cleaner both after uninstalling the Divx software and after I did my own little registry purge.
*I have tried running the third party utility, All-in-One-Fix, along DivXInstaller as prescribed by the DivX support center. Didn't work.
Recent changes: The most significant changes my computer has gone through are the installation of programs like: CombiMovie (mpeg mux'er), TMPGenc, re-installation of VirtuaDub.

Have I tried researching via Google? Yes. I have gone through 10 pages of Google search results and while I may have found threads in various forums addressing this problem, none of them provided the answer. I have posted threads in both the DivX and Stage6 forum - no replies. I also used the search feature for both DivX (scanned through 10 pages), and Stage6 (all four pages); found nothing relevant within my Stage6 search results, and while I did find some similar threads in the 10 pages of DivX search results that I went over, none of the threads offered any real solutions.
Misc: The only reason I want to use the Divx player is, because I want to upload some videos into Stage6. I know you can upload via the site, but, at times, my internet connection craps out, and it's pretty frustrating to see a video that's been uploading for hours fail. I figure if I use the Divx player to upload videos, like the Veoh player, even if I were to disconnect, the upload would still continue from where it left off once I reconnect.

A poster in the Something Awful tech support forum has suggested that I try installing the K-Lite Codec Pack, but I don't see how that could help. I don't have a problem playing divx, xvid, flv, .swf, .rm, .wmv, or anything, really.

Just a thought, but you may want to ensure the latest version of the player supports XP /SP1. Could be a bug related to the fact that your XP isn't up to date.

Thanks. I've done just about everything I think I can do to try to fix this other than installing SP2 and updating my video card drivers which are about a year to a year and a half old. Yesterday I tried running the player in safe mode and it still crashed on the outset.
