    All my movies were .avi file types but i converted 1 movie and now all my other movies are saying they are video files??? does that mean i do not have to convert them or do they still need to be converted.... i am not sure whether to think they auto converted themselves

    where does it say video? what is the file extension?

    Yes, that's probably just Windows sticking a generic icon on them. Do you have 'Hide extensions for known filetypes' unchecked? Then you would see the true extension name. In any folder: Tools>Folder options>Views>then go down the list a little and uncheck it.

    That was exactly what it was i had the hide file extensions checked and when i changed it... it showed the true extension which was avi on most but the ones i converted thanks

    You probably want to have a tick next to show hidden files and folders also. It helps your AVS find virus and trojans if it can see all the files and their extensions.
