hey. i tried to rip sowrdfish using this prob. at first it kept giving me I/O ERROR 23 over and over. so then i extracted all the files from the cd using Sector Extractor. i then again ran dvd2svcd and selected the biggest IFO file from the folder. i used 4 pass VBR, 48 to 44.1 conversion on High, and 256 KBS. eveyrything was goin fine. when the .bin files were done, i burned then. when i played them back on my standalone the damn thing had NO sound. moreover, the picture (which was supposed to be widescreen) was "squished" (i can't think of another way to describe it). it was clear but the black bars on the top and bottom were extremely thick and sometimes interferred with the movie. for e.g. a person's hair would be cut off when they are talking, etc. anyone know what the problem is? i used this same prog before and it worked fine. the only change i made was i increased bitrate from 224 to 256, increased image quality priority from 17 to 50 and this time i activated ripping the subtitles. any suggestions or help would be appreciated. i have included my log so u guys can see what i did:

First thing I always do is run smartripper.
This does two things
1. it unlocks the drive
2. Look at the files tab and the first file checked is the file you want to load into DVD2SVCD. (tho your log file looks fine for the VOB files)
Your could try looking at the final audio files...u can play these with media player directly....the wav and the MP2 file....see if these have the correct audio.
Also I ALWAYS use a audio bit rate of 128....the quality is still very very good....and when your stretching to put a 2 hour movie on 2 disks, the video needs the bitrate more than the audio. (BTW your stand alone may not like 256 bitrate.) 224 is cd quality and I know u can hear the differance between 128 and 160 but I would challenge anyone to hear the differance between 160 and 224 let alone 256....if u do not have the original to compare with 128 is just fine, though i would not go any lower.
For the squishy video when your opening your IFO file check that the aspect ratio is set at 16:9...sometimes the info is wrong from DVD2AVI
BTW I have never had a problem using DVD2SVCD and it is sure the best way of backing up DVDs
