To many consumers, HDMI is yet another random connection built into the rear panels of A/V devices. In this Q&A, Electronic House Editor-in-Chief Cindy Davis discusses the ins and outs of HDMI with Steve Venuti, Director of Marketing for HDMI Licensing LLC. After reading this, those HDMI connectors carved into your gear will finally make sense.

  5. I guess now my question is (if I should open another thread let me know) If you are building a home theater room, how would you go about placing this in the wall since you cannot crimp it at home? Also, since longer distances are bad, would the a/v cabinent need to be in the back by the projector?

you can run premade hdmi cables through a wall - though it is more difficult ... OR you can run hdmi over Cat5/6 with converters ...

you can run long distances with cat 5/6 and you also can get hdmi repeaters for longer distance ...
