hi, 1st post -
firstly thanks to major and all those who've helped provide ffmpegx-![]()
My question: I was just wondering if there's a simple answer to the question of differing playback quality for an ffmpeg authored DVD - I can post screencaps and the encoding log later if there isn't-
On VLC I see a beautifully encoded, smooth image with no artefacts;
On Apple DVD Player I see pulsating blocky artefacts in 3 or more different places, and generally lower quality image.
I'm encoding a self-contained Quicktime movie of an interlaced PAL DV 48k Final Cut Pro project- I'll have to re-encode again to generate a log file, but believe me I've tried encoded it 10+ times with all different permutations of settings, the playback problems in Apple DVD Player remains each time.
I'm hoping there is a solution, because to get a lesser quality (albeit stable, non-artefacting) DVD from Compressor 2, takes 5+ hours for a 7 minute short film, whilst ffmpegx is less than 10 minutes-
My setup should be in my profile, I'm using FCP 5.0, Compressor 2, Quicktime 7.1.1, FFmpegX 0.0.9w
thanks for your help - A.
