I am putting together some short home video clips for my mother but she wants me to remove an ex-fiance of my cousin from a clip as it apparently ended in a bad way and doesnt want her to detract from the video.

She stands predominately to the left and using the pan and crop I have been able to keyframe her out of the video.

Only problem is I have basically a black bar that covers her and it moves in and out to compensate for the movement and where she is making the actual seen video get smaller and larger.

I was hoping to be able to just get vegas to somehow stretch the actual image left to fill the whole frame. I know the proportions would be stretched but that may be acceptable if I can get it to work.

Could anyone point me to a guide or show me how to do it?

    Thanks

You would be better off reframing the entire image using pan and crop, and keyframing the movement to keep the offending person out of frame. No distrotion, however the image would likely become soft if the you have to zoom too much.

Im not 100% sure what you mean.....how do I reframe?

So far i have been clicking on the pan and crop icon and from there using the keyframes to mask her out. But I cannot get the rest of the image to fill the frame.

Could you please explain what you mean?

    Thanks for your help.

Open Event Pan & Crop for the clip in question. Make sure "Lock Aspect Ratio" is selected (icon on the left). Use the corner tags to resize the visible area down, while maintaining the correct aspect ratio. You can now pan the new "window" around the frame. So long at is remains within the total original frame, you will not get black areas in shot. You can pan and resize, and have the movements keyframed. Use this to move the visible window around within the frame to keep person A in shot, and person B out of shot. You should not have to stretch the image unless they get too close to the dge, in which case consider ditching the clip, or doing some sort of montage instead.
