    Hello

Im using Nero 7 to make a dvd now I know its not the best software to use but I would like if someone could help me with a question I have. Im making a dvd where the file needs to be transcoded. In the video options I chose a 2 pass VBR to increase the quality of the video insted of the single pass which takes less time. Now when I tried the 2 pass VBR and it got to the point where the video is being trascoded, it is not showing me the video in the viewer. Now I tried it in the single pass and it shows the video. Is there a problem or is Nero going through an analysis of the video without showing it to me and is then going to show me the video in the second pass? or am I just wasting my time transcoding nothing? Can you please help as i've never transcoded with a second pass and therefore am a noob?

    Thanks, for your time

At least on Nero 6 I see video even with second pass

I think that there is a place to check to enable video preview

I'm not that familiar with Nero and it's 'transcode' features, but I would avoid them anyway. Most likely the first pass would not show in a preview. This is fairly common when two pass encoding is being done. The first pass is just getting an idea on where to allocate the bitrate. More bitrate for action scenes, less for static scenes. It's not really made for display. The second pass 'may' show you where it is at in the encode. Most 2 pass encodes just output a text file of sorts in the first pass that is a guide for the encoder during the real encode, the second pass.

If you have doubts about what Nero is doing, (I would. ) encode a representative short clip of maybe 5 minutes and see how you like the results. If they are OK, encode the whole file.
