  1. I'm really confused as to why this is the problem, I did all this a number of times (about a 1 year and a half ago) but now it's a problem. I used the guides I found from this site and they worked before so here are the steps I used:

I captured my home video from my DV Camera to the Comp as a AVI / DVI file. I assembled it with Adobe premiere 6.5, I encoded with CCE to a *.mpv & *.mpa, I converted the *.mpa to an AC3. Created the Backgrounds with Photoshop and Authored it with DVD Maestro (last release).
I can Preview it in Maestro (have a Matrox card and the Matrox dvd player application installed) but I get no sound) If I compile it and play the VOB files in PowerDVD they play real fast with no sound, but they play normal in my 2 other DVD programs, but with no sound. Now If I open up the AC3 files in Winamp they play fine.

The only difference in my current process is this:

I previously formatted my Home video to 4:3 to fit my old GE 27" TV, I now have a 42" LCD HD rear projection. So I used the 16:9 template in Premiere and made the like changes in CCE & added pan & scan.

I'm also putting the final out put on a Double Layer disk.

Any clues would be valuable. TIA

Did you check the box for the audio? You can put audio on the timeline, but if you haven't "checked" the enable box (it turns pink on my system), the audio will not play. Also, it won't be compiled into the build.

Load a muxed version of your audio/video into VirtualDubMPEG2. If this plays, then PEBCAK.

I assume we are talking about DVD Maestro. I can't find any "check" to enable the audio, I found "add to play list" but that didn't work. as for VirtualDubMPEG2 i'll have to get a hold of that to check it.

compressing first to mpa , then to ac3 will reduce quality ...

I assume you do have the drivers installed to preview video and audio in maestro - ?

The check box referred to is the on the left side - click the number to enable the track ..

I have the drivers for the video as for the audio they should be installed, like I said I did this on the this very machine over a year ago with no problems this is why I'm stumped, I have repeatedly checked Maestro for audio settings and I can't find any. But I'll try to convert a mpa to a PCM/wav file and see if that works.

  6. Well I guess this was what I did last time, but I thought I used Ac3's, I went back into Adobe preimiere and extracted the Audio channel to a Wav file and put that into Maestro and that worked in preview and final compile, although I did get an error about the Audio bitrate being too high but it plays back fine as far as I can hear. Thanks for all your help.

Just curious so I don't seem like a Dinasaur is there a comparable Authoring program to DVD Maestro out there, I know DVD Maestro is old and I don't know how many OS life times it will have left in it. If I craps out in Windows "Vista" then I'll need asuitable replacement. TIA
