  1. After writing to a Verbatim Datalife (Ritek) DVD-RW several times and using the Initialize on my Pioneer 220s to erase, I thought it might be time for a full erase. Did it with NERO and now the Pioneer cant initialize the disc.
I wont do that again but being still somewhat new to the reusable discs -RW...when is a "full erase" needed and what program is needed that will comply with the Pioneer?
Or is it ok to just go on for the life of the disc using the Pioneer quick Initialize feature?
Did Nero screw up the disc or did I miss a step or what?
    Thanks for any insight.

PS: I thought Verbatim was MCC not Ritek. They were high priced to be Ritek

  2. Wow, over 60 views and no clues.
I thought someone here had a Pioneer DVD recorder standalone and had a copy of Nero on the computer. I guess not.
Not a problem. Zero replies always make a forum look inviting.
Anyway just to make sure someone else might learn something from this thread...if you do have Nero and decide to use it to do a full erase on an -RW disc thinking that the Pioneer 220s will "Initialize" it afterwards...Don't.

I don't use Nero. I've used the same -RW disk on Pioneer (220 and 420) at least a couple hundred times and never saw any reason to do a full erase.

If you really want to save the disk you might try burn some DVD video to the disk, then put it back in the recorder and erase it.
