I am using the old windows media player to play my mp3 files...on windows 2000.
    I have media player classic.

I have some mp3 files that wmp will open and look like they are playing them...but there is no sound....I have to click just after the begining of the song to have it start making sound. But when I open it with mpc it plays sound right away.

Does anyone know what this is caused from?

MPC has a built in mp3 decoder and mp3 parser. Therefor it reacts differently than wmp which if you haven't installed anything is using the default windows filters.

MPC's filters are available in standalone versions though.
So that would be MpaSplitter.ax and MpaDecFilter.ax unicode.

How do I get wmp to use those?
Do I have to uninstall the mp3 codec that came with windows 2000?

    Thanks.....

Shouldn't need to. If you register them they should have a higher priority and therefor automatically be used instead.
