goodmans 306r hack problem

I need some help because the given hack does not work. this is what I've done



OPEN DISK TRAY, MAKE SURE EMPTY
CLOSE DISK TRAY
PRESS TV/DVDR
PRESS RETURN
PRESS DISPLAY
ENTER 8880

unfortunately, nothing happens except that the machine goes to programme channel 80!

when I try to input 8880 it only accepts two numbers.

if anyone can help I would be so much obliged!

some kind soul told me that the 306r played region 1 and 2 straight out the box - so I tried it and it's true! hope this helps some others
