Ellion 950S won't play dvd-r

I bought one of these machines recently but I've found that it won't play dvd-r discs that I have used to copy dvd's with. They're done on my pc, and will play fine on my pc, but not on the Ellion.

Has anyone else encountered this problem? Btw, the manual says that the player supports +R and -R. The discs are generic discs (Ridata).

Even though a player states that it supports a specific format, isn't a guarantee that it will work properly with all brands/types. I would try a different brand/type of disc.
