  1. Well here i go

Has anyone tried burning a dvd over a network ???

    to elaborate

the dvd video folder is on 1 computer and i will like to know if if it would work if i open nero on

another computer and direct it to the files on the first or rather transfer it over to one of the other system then burn

the reason i asked is that my files are stored on my faster system pentium 4 3.4 2 ghz ram which i

    use for

encoding and authoring which i dont like stopping to do other tasks such as burning. plus I am

afraid of having bad burns sinch all the programs demand high resources

should i set up a network and output the files from my authoring programs to my other

    systems 2 ( pentium 4 2.2 1 ghz ram)

    and burn them there ??

Or direct NERO to the files on the first system then burn from there over the network

i dont have a router yet but i am looking to get a gigabyte one.

    What would you do

I presently tranfer the files using a 40 gig hard drive in a portable enclosure

    Yes

    I have

    done that

    before

    but i havent

    dont it in

    a

    while. i did

    it back when i

    was burning

    at

    4x speed.

    i'm not sure

    how it would work

    at 16x

    but the

    dvd-r's

    are cheap enough

    that you could

    give one

    a shot.

    good

    luck.

No problem if both pc's a relatively fast ... but this method really is not recommended , as you are adding another step ... which could "blink" at any time during the process ... with modern burner's this is nolonger an issue , as they wait ...

I use this method under "extreme" condition's ... backing up failing hd's from one pc to another ... effectively imaging the drive before it crap's out .

In your situation , best transfer a "copy" of the file's to the other pc ... once over there , you can delete the original back on the original pc ...

  4. Many burning programs can automatically copy network files to the local machine before starting to burn. But I burn from network shares all the time without it. I do limit the burn speed to 8x though.
