I have an XviD video that I acquired in which the audio starts out OK, but by the end of the video, the audio is about 1 second out of sync from the picture. How can I fix this?

Drop the video into VirtualDub Mod and see if it's got MP3 VBR audio. If so go to 'Streams', select 'Full processing mode, and save it out as a WAV with full audio processing, then convert that back to MP3 and mux it back to the video. Or if you plan to encode it to DVD, just use the WAV for the audio in the encoder.

If it's not VBR, and the audio has the same error the length of the video you can apply an audio offset in VDM. In 'Streams', select full audio processing, then right click on the audio. Under 'Interleaving' you will see the Audio skew correction.

If the audio is a different length than the video, you will have to adjust one or the other until they match.

  3. You could try running your xvid through AVImux_GUI. It works for me. Also see this page for a quick course on the use of it:
