There's a big difference with VOB files and AVI files. For AVI, you need to encode them to DVD compatible video. See 'What is' DVD to see the DVD format.

There are lots of way to encode to MPEG-2. I use TMPGEnc encoder most of the time. But whatever you use, you need to get to DVD compliant video. There are freeware encoders also.

Then when you have encoded the video and audio, you need to author it to DVD specs. I use TMPGEnc DVD Author, but there are a few freeware authoring programs available.

If you look to the left, under 'HOW TO' you will see our guides. It depends on the software you have for what process you can use. Do a little exploring.

If you have VOB files, then they should already be DVD compatible. All you have to do then is to burn them. If you have only VOBs and not the rest of the DVD structure, you can use IFOEdit to restore the other parts.

Sorry, there is no 'does it all' tutorial. You just have to read and experiment.

If you want to get started quickly, convertxtodvd is for you. Just load and go. Otherwise, all you need to know is over to your left

Start with the How To section, then look at the tutorial list associuated with the tools you have. Finally, come back and ask questions.

There really is no definative go to woe guide, as there are many, many tools, and many, many methods. And no guide covers all the contingencies either.

Again, 'What is' DVD will tell you the DVD spec. You only have to read it.
