  1. Hi,

I have been converting some avi files to dvd standard. Up until now, my method was working fine (8 episodes of the same show have been successfully converted). While converting the 9th episode however, I ran into some trouble while transcoding the avi audio to ac3.
I first opened the avi with virtualdubmod and saved the audio as a wav file. Then I ran ac3machine to convert it to ac3 format. The problem is though, the original wav file (23.976fps)is 42m53s, during conversion the ac3 machine command box counts up to 1hr22m and the resulting ac3 file (25fps) is 41m07s. Any attempt to now play the ac3 file fails, the track is completely silent from start to finish.
Really confused, as I said before this method worked perfectly 8 times already.

try convert with something else, ffmpeggui can convert from the avi directly to an ac3 audio file for example.

  3. ffmpeg works well, but it does not convert the frame rate from 23.976fps to 25fps.
    Any suggestions?

  4. You might try converting the WAV file to PAL length before sending it to AC3Machine. BeSweet has a Preset for that.

  5. I tried Besweet and as I suspected the results were exactly the same as AC3Machine, AC3Machine is a gui for besweet.
The original AVI is 42m53s at 23.976fps.
During the transcoding process using Besweet and/or AC3Machine, the cmd box counts to 1hr22m.
The resulting wav (or any other audio file for that matter) is 41m02s.
This should be 41.09 and because it is not there is audio sync problems.
I don't know why this is happening with this file, as episodes 1-8 have worked fine, and so far I've checke number 10-14 and they're ok too. I will try downloading another number 9 and see what happens. Failing that, I have a couple of other converting programs which I'll give a try too.
