I'm assuming you are using VirtualDub Mod or VD MP2 as the regular VD doesn't accept VOBs or MPEGs.

Why are you using job control? Are you trying to run two VOB conversions? I would try it directly first with VDM to see if your encoder settings are correct. You can cancel if you want and try the job control afterwards.

If you are converting from a DVD, you can also use VOB2MPG and it will give you one large MPG of the entire DVD video. Or use DVD Decrypter and save out the DVD as one large VOB that VD Mod can process.

'Parsing' is VDM reading the VOB. If you have an error there, it sounds like it couldn't read the file.

What AVI format are you converting to?

It could produce 'exactly' the same quality as AutoGK as neither program is doing the encoding. The Xvid codec itself does that. The codec settings are what determines the quality, length, etc.

The only advice I can give is to try it without the job list, if that's the problem, do the encoding manually, first pass, nth pass. Then repeat for the second VOB. Or determine where the error is in the job list or the encoding settings.

I normally use FairUse Wizard for DVD to Xvid conversion. It may not have the control of VD or other separate programs, but it's a lot easier. All you need is a decrypted DVD and start up the program.

If the encoder settings were the same and they both use the same encoder (Xvid or Divx) then the quality should be the same. Whether you can set both of them up exactly the same way, I don't know.
