Having trouble with creating an AVI from Memories on TV (Latest version 3.03 (and earlier versions))
I am running Windows XP Pro. I install the MOTV 3.03 demo and reboot the computer.
Open MOTV and drag and drop Jpeg images up into the main progject window.
Set options for PAL TV
Go to Project Menu and select Export as MPG/AVI File
Enter name of file and select AVI extension and destination folder.
Click Finish.
AVI Video Encoder Parameters window appears with list of codecs.
I select Full Frames Uncompressed 720x576 to avoid codec conflictions.
Click on OK and an AVI is produced.
Close MOTV and load Virtual Dub (I have tried serveral different versions).
VDub always reports the error "Cannot Detect File Type of F:\Test.avi
Tried all of this on a different computer running WinXP Pro....Same result.
I have tried different codecs that I have installed. All give the same result.
On a different project I am currently converting music clips to AVI and running them
through Virtual Dub. Mpeg2 into VDub one end, and an AVI out the other end.
No problems at all. All my versions of Virtual dub handle AVI's perfectly, except
those created by MOTV.
I need some help !!!

can you play the avi with wmp?
what does avi2clipboard say?
contacted motv support? -
Hi Baldrick
1) WMP says "Cannot play back the file. The format is not supported".
2) AVI2clipboard says "Not a valid AVI video. It's either damaged or another file type renamed to AVI
3) Yes I have sent this info to MOTV support, but probably won't hear back to early this coming week.
I guess they close over the weekend
Is there someone with MOTV that could try a small slide show (just a couple of jpegs), encode it as an AVI, then see if Virtual Dub will read it -

The problem (I suspect)you are experiencing is due to a 4GB file size limitation that MemOnTV has for exporting AVI's. If you are exporting "uncompressed", it will not take long for you to easily exceed this size. I experienced the same problem exporting using the HuffyUV codec. I emailed them and in response found out about the 4GB limitation. Supposedly, it will be corrected in a future release. To verify this is the problem, go into explorer and check on the file size--I suspect it will be 4GB.
Solution is to use a different codec that compresses--e.g. DV or some other like Divx or Xvid.
I must admit that this is a major limitation in my view. I've been doing high-def slideshows with a resolution of 1920x1080 and have pretty much given up on MemOnTV except for very short segments. Too bad, since the new version has a lot of neat features--especially it's multi-picture capability.
Suggest you e-mail them complaining and maybe they will put more emphasis on overcoming this limitation. Hope this helps.
