  1. "Installing Microsoft’s latest six-bug patch earlier this month proved costly for many computer users. Many people discovered that they were not able to use Internet Explorer 7 (IE7) soon after installing the latest patch fixing six bugs that was issued earlier this month."

You need a specific circumstance for this to happen:

the problem is faced by those users who have moved the Temporary Internet Files directory, which is used as IE’s cache folder, to some other location.

I see MS has quickly developed a patch to fix their patch, though. I went back to IE6 myself. IE7 seemed to add just what I didn't want, more toolbars.

give firefox a try. it works and with the available add-ons & extensions does browsing just about any way you want. no known exploits - yet -.

i've been done with i.e.(6 and 7) for quite some time and don't miss a thing about them. there's even an add-on to let you use the m.$. update site within firefox. (don't tell m.$.) !!

For our site here I use IE6 only because my spell checker works well with it. I don't really like the spell checker on FireFox, but I do use FireFox for most other sites and browsing.

I stay away from most IE patches as I have my own protection programs and IE and MS don't have a great track record when it come to malware prevention.

I use FireFox and have been for some time now. I only use Internet Explorer 7 when I need to use a Microsoft website like when I want to download updates etc.

    P.S.
I am currently using FireFox in Linux Mint 3.0 aka "Cassandra" at the moment to type this up.

I use Firefox and I'm not an Explorer fan, but to describe this as a meaningful bug is a bit of a reach. Virtually any program will get very sick if you change the directory paths for its running environment. How many people get up in the morning and say, "Gee, I think I will move my Temporary Internet Files directory"?

I don't unerstand why they offer you an option of moving the DEFAULT LOCATION for installs at all
it seems we've gone way backwards in this regard.
Some years ago innovative programmers first offered the option of installing a windows application in other than the windows PROGRAM FILES directory.
Now it seems, if you stray from the DEFAULTS you are laying yourself open to PROGRAM ERRORS.
With all this proliferation has come an inability to FUNCTION in other than DEFAULT LOCATIONS

I use Safari Beta on Windows
    and Camino on OS X

Because if they didn't somone would be be bitching and moaning about it. Damned if you do and damned if you don't. I'd have to agree with SCDVD this is really nothing, you can't possibly expect people writing software to test against every possible situation.
