So are there are any plug ins to zoom text for the ie7 browser? I have it set to largest text size but I need it larger. I am using a 32" westinghouse hdtv lcd as a monitor for my htpc.
I am using a res of 1366x768 which is the native resolution of the tv. Is there any way to max the broswer viewsize without distroting it? I'd like to leave my monitor resolution as it is but have a larger font inside the browser.
I would be open to any HTPC specific browsers as well. Thanks in advance.....
EDIT - nevermind - I think I got something I like. I did a google search for HTPC browser and found an old post I made here on videhelp.
I am using the ZOOM function on the lower right hand corner in the ie7 broswer. RIght now I'm at 150% and that seems to be the amount I need. Unfortunately I'll need to do some up and down and side scrolling more than I'd like. But at least its easier on the eyes from a few feet back. Using a tv for a monitor is ok but you forget your sitting farther back than you would while sitting at a desk. I think this should do for now....
Suggestions are still welcome if there are "true" htpc browswers now of course..

Firefox has a good zoom function which zooms everything on the page. It also has the ability to force a minimum font size and a specific font. Not all pages render properly if you override fonts sizes though.
You can use IE's Accessibility options to set the minimum font size and specify the font.
Windows has a built in magnifier.
Hauppauge graphics cards have a built in zoom feature where the pixels of the entire desktop are doubled or quadrupled in size (via a keystroke). This is really useful for zooming into small text or to examine an image closely. -
Thanks jagabo.
I'm using firefox 2 at the moment. I used the increase text size a few times and I'm at a level I think I like.
I'll try it out and a few websites to see how it responds. If this works out I may go ahead and download firefox 3.
Edit - I think I'm sold! What it does that I like it scale everything vertically. This means I don't have that pesky HORIZONTAL scroll bar that I hate using. So when it makes the web page larger it stacks it on top of everything. THat I like.
Ok I'll bite the bullet and download firefox 3. Thanks.
EDIT 2 - Ok I donwloaded the latest update to firefox 3. The zoom is still working pretty well. At first I was disappointed becasue it introduced a horizontal scroll bar upon zooming which I did not want. But than I noticed it has a "text only" option in the zoom drop down. I think I'll get the right setting now.
Thanks jagaboo.Donatello - The Shredder? Michelangelo - Maybe all that hardware is for making coleslaw?
