A search in Gooooooogle will throw up a whole host of these new fangled 'software only' required sites to access satellite TV. However, are these any good?? Customer Reviews say that, for a one-off fee you have limited access but then have to pay for the 'pay per view' movies/sports etc. That contradicts the marketing these providers 'sell'. Well that's no good.

Obviously, i would prefer a recommendation from a forum user to steer me in the right direction via a tried and tested means if that's at all possible.

Basically, i'm after a software only (ideally) solution but would consider a hardware solution (tv card etc) if that is better. I would like to be able to access movies, pay per view, etc all via b/band connection.

Any help would be most grateful. Many Thanks.

I don't have an answer for you, however, most of the sites will most likely bill the same way for the content. The billing reflects what you would actually pay if you had actual SAT (or cable) service. You get a majority of channels for a fixed amount, then pay extra for the movie/sports packages. Pay per view is totally seperate and is billed per use.

Links please -- sounds interesting, but a Google search for "satellite" +"software only" +PC revealed nothing of interest.

Search on 'satellite tv on pc' .That brings up quite a few.

    For example:
    http://satellitetvpc.shmyl.com/
    http://www.freeskyonyourpc.com/

  5. This is not the same as having a card and dish. Only stuff that's being streamed on the Internet will be available. Obviously, these folks just made a database of what's available on the net.
