  1. I've recently started using TMPGENC DVD Author to create some dvds. All seemed to be going fine until I played one later to verify its quality. I have created a dvd with 4 episodes on it, each approximately 40-45 minutes in length. Up until the authoring process my files are complete. However, after authoring all of my episodes are now about 5 minutes shorter of the original length.
I don't know what I'm doing wrong, help appreciated.

Maybe a bit more detail would help.

How did you encode the clips ?
Did you check the clips seperately ?
How did you author - single track, track each etc ?
How did you encode the audio ?

  3. The original files were .avi format with 23.976fps. I separated the video and audio into two files, .wav for audio and .avi for video using VirtualDubMod.
I then converted the files to 25fps - for audio I used the AC3Machine (a besweet plugin) and for video I used TMPGENC 3.0 XPress.
At this point I now had two new files, one video .m2v (mpeg-2 25fps) and one audio .ac3. All files at this point were complete in movie length.
Then I reauthored selecting the .m2v video file and corresponding .ac3 audio file for each clip. I had 4 episodes so I made 4 Tracks each containing 1 clip (in tmpgenc dvd author).
Basically, I followed the guide I found here...

I have only used TDA once, so I may be sketchy on the details, but here goes. I know it is possible to get a preview of the clip for thumbnail purposes (but I can't remember how), so bring up this peview window and slide the slider all the way to the right - does it go to the end of the clip, or to where the clip stops on playback ?

  5. When I load the files into TDA they are still complete. I move the slider all the way to the right and it shows the completing scenes (not the premature end which I see after authoring).

One final (hopefully) question. When you watch them back, are you watching them all the way through, or skipping through chapters ? If skipping, where is the last chapter stop ?

  7. If you mean on playback as watching on a dvd player, I have tried watching from begining to end and also skipped chapters. I have set chapter creation to build chapters every 2 minutes.

  8. Hi again, I just thought I would let you all know that I have resolved my problem. I removed the TDA which I had and installed a later version of the program.
I started from the begining of the conversion process and followed the same steps as I did before. It works fine.
    Thanks for you help.
