    Hi all,

I am wanting to extract the audio from concert DVD's I own and save the audio as mp3's. Any help would greatly be appriciated.

    I have a powerbook G4, Superdrive, Toast 7.

    Thanks.

I don't know about DVD Audio, but it's easy to extract the audio tracks from video DVDs with either Cinematize or Toast 7. Both have the ability to extract on a chapter by chapter basis. You'd need to have iTunes encode the mp3s from the extracted tracks.

Another option is to use Audio Hijack to record the audio while it's playing on your Mac.

Thanks. These are official DVD's that are copy protected. Would I need to rip them with MTR to be able to extract the audio.

Also could someone explain what the actual process is with Toast?

    Thanks.

Yes. After that, I would use ffmpegX's Movie audio to mp3 preset.

I'm a little lost...what do I do with the MTR contents? The Audio folder is empty. Use the video?

ffmegX is asking me to download 3 things. I was able to download one, but I got a billion random letters from one of the links.

    See:

    http://mjpeg.sourceforge.net/MacOS/mpeg2enc.intel

    What do I do?

It also gave the same download link for both "mencoder" and "mplayer." I'm pretty sure I now have 2 copies of the same thing. It gave this link for both:

    http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/mplayerosx/ffmpegXbinaries20060307.zip

Any help would be greatly appriciated.

The Movie audio to mp3 setting does not support VIDEO_TS as input. Use MTR's Title only extraction, to get the title in a single VOB file. Use the VOB file as input for ffmpegX.

ffmpegXbinaries20060307.zip - Unzip the file and you'll find two files: mencoder and mplayer.
mpeg2enc.intel - Alt-click or Control-click to download to file. Remove the .txt suffix that Safari can wrongfully add.

    Thanks.

I unzipped the two files. Then I downloaded the other and it downloaded as "mpeg2enc-1.intel.txt". You mention getting rid of the txt but that's how it downloaded. Nevertheless I selected what downloaded and the ffmpegX program went through to it's main page.

So ripping and get the VOB file, then what do I do with ffmpegX? Sorry, I'm dumb. Do I just drag it to the "From" and select "audio file to mp3" then hit "encode"? Will I have a folder filled with mp3's on my desktop after it's done or where are the mp3's stored? Thanks all!

No, select the Movie audio to mp3 preset. "audio file to mp3" is a different preset.

1/ I expect the output to be one single mp3.
2/ The default save location is the same as the source file, but you may select a different location using the Save As button.

    Ok thanks.

Is there anyway to have the mp3 converted at a higher byrate (sp?)? It says 128.
