    Hi guys,

I am just starting out in this video field, so be prepared for some stupid questions..

First one, I am trying to convert a couple of movies using Divx converter, but all I get is a little message box saying 'we cannot convert this file as MPEG! audio codec is missing'.

does anyone know where I can get this..

    Hi drongo,

    Welcome to the forums.

Use GSpot (v2.52 beta) on your source file and post a screenshot of the information back in this thread. This will establish which codec is needed, and hence where to get it.
There is some corner of a foreign field that is forever England: Telstra Stadium, Sydney, 22/11/2003.

just a comment I hope is useful-

I had the same (missing codec) thing happen from XP's Media Player & RealPlayer (two most common) after transferring a nice, working but older ArcSoft ShowBiz .mpg off the machine that made it originally to another totally updated XP machine.

Some codecs are more proprietary than others, and aren't necessarily found on other users machines. Media Player automatically went online to get the playback codec, but encountered 'Server errors' & then just gave up. Very embarrassing!

It would be nice to know which codecs guarantee universal playability.

DivX converter needs the mpeg2 plugin costs $9.99 US Dollars. It's trialware for I think 15 days, then you need to buy it. Your trial has probably expired, see here:
