I have a Pioneer DVR-110D writer and understood that it would burn DVD-R DL. So I went out and bought some Ritek 4X DVD-R DL media from Supermediastore and it won't recognize it. Does anyone know if there is a specific firmware that I need (using Brothers 1.39) or does the 110D just not support DVD-R DL?

ive burnt both dvd-r dl and dvd+r dl with the 110d but with original firmware (always most up to date firmware but straight from pioneers site) at one stage i had 3 dvd+r dl burn about 3/4 of the way and then stop/error but ive never had it not recognise them. maybe firmware, maybe the media, maybe defect drive... ? anyone else?

Check for firmware upgrade first .
Second , suspect bad media ... try another brand such as verbatim , more reliable . -
