I have a LiteOn LVD-2001 with an updated bios.
Well it was working ok for last year but now I get
iso disk on the display when I turn it on.
then wait
the some other stuff some times I hit play and it
says play in the display but never does.
turn it on and off 1 2 or 3 times and it works.
plays fine after this...menus and everything are fine
IS this a junker?
thanks big time for help with this unit has NOT seen much service and I was
surprised when all this started to happen.
If I need to junk this thing is there an under $100 player
I can pick up at bestbuy walmart or something like it and
get good player with good features?
maybe even play back wma video files...although I am not
sure how to burn them to cd/dvd and get a menu for multi.

Most players today are under $100. Even some recorders are in this price range. My last player purchase cost me nothing as it was free with the purchase of other equipment. It works better and has lasted longer than my first Sony player.

Have you tried something like this:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00008EM7U/
Cheaper than buying a new player. -
Try opening it and cleaning the laser and spindle with a q-tip wet with alcohol. I've had it work many times.

will give it a good scrubing tonight and thanks for the help

Ok I must have screwed up something.
I took the top of the drive and gently cleaned the lens.
Put the top back on and power up.
plz wait in display
I hit open and it did. put in a disk and hit close it closed.
Spun up and nothing.
display says plz wait.
I hit open,,,,display blinks open then goes to close in the display
even though the drive is closed and won't open.
can someone tell me what I screwed up and maybe a fix?
thank you for any and all help

The tops sometimes have slots in them that slide into a plastic part on the faceplate, you may have missed and got the top on wrong. Take the top back off, if it works OK with the top off, you got it back on wrong or bent it in the process.

Well I tried about everything. Now it will open and close..you put in a disk..
it says dvd...please wait...then ntsc message....then a lot of wurring and clicking
if you eject the disk and hit close ...then play it says no disk.
But it won't play.
I must have done something to piss it off LOL
jagabo it looks like I am looking for an inexpensive dvd and or dvd/divx that
will play dvd-r and dvd+r.
