    And you would have to give us more information for an informed guess at your problem.
    Does it do the same with commercial DVDs?
    Not that it has much bearing, but you say dvd/vcr? Is it a combo unit? What brand and model? Has it always done this?
    If you were outputting S-video to your TV, I would say you have a loose cable connection. If you are playing a PAL video on a NTSC player, then I would say that may be your problem. Or possibly the other way around, but that seems rarer.

    If it does this with a commercial PAL video from the proper region and you are not using S-video output, then the player itself may have a problem.

    More info. Yes it is a combo. Philips DVD/VCR - DVP721VR/05. Commercial dvds are affected also. VCR side plays normally.
