how do i join a compressd avi i tryd useing tmpgenc but i get a error and it wont load it

Use GSpot (v2.52 beta) on your compressed files. Post screenshots of the info so we can see the details of the files you're trying to join.
What error message are you getting?

the error was illegal mpeg video stream

TMPGEnc is for MPEGs - your AVI has been compressed using the Xvid codec, so TMPGEnc is no good. Hence the error message.

There's plenty of guides for VirtualDub - read the ones relevant to you.
