  1. I've read some articles and tried going through DVDLab's help file without much success. I have 2 halfs of a movie file I want to author in DVDLab. I want to have them play as if they were one, without having to join them before bringing them into DVDLab. They play uniquely, as if they were 2 movies.
Is there an article or page in the help file someone knows of that explains how to do this?
Programs like Vision Express will take 2 seperate avi or mpegs and author them as if they were one.

Which DVDLab are you using? Standard, Studio, or Pro?

The only way to do it in Standard is to use the connection window and draw a link from the end of the 1st movie to the beginning of the second but I think that causes problems with chapters (not sure, never had to do it). In Studio you can create a "Play All" button that makes them play like one movie. And in Pro I'm sure there are even more options but I don't know that version.

In DVD Lab Pro you have an object called a Movie Sgement, which allows you to put multiple clips on a single timeline. It does come with some caveats though - you cannot put an chapters in between the join points, and it is still not as smooth as a properly joined clip.

  4. Irrespective of whichever DVDLab you are using, the way to put 2 movies 2 play as a single movie is to put them in the same VTS and join the end button of the first movie to the second movie( QUOTE from byteguy:-draw a link from the end of the 1st movie to the beginning of the second). The 2 movies would play one after another; with a slight pause when the first one finishes.

The same effect would be observed in TMPG DVD Author.

Regarding the chapter points, both movies would have start of the movie as a chapter point, you cannot change it.

The only way to have the 2 movies play seamlessly would have to first join the 2 externally before importing into the DVD authoring program.

ark - it is not the only way. DLP is more flexible than that. It just depends on the outcome you are after.

Hello Group, Now... isn't that strange. ! I use TMPGEnc Author to make DVD containing up to 24 individual clips all in mpeg-2 format and TMPGEnc plays them all SEAMLESSLY.

Not a single SKIP in the dozens of DVDs made...!

Also, you can place chapter stops within each clip, although on short clips it would NOT be worth doing.

When using 2 parts to make a film, you can place chapter stops on each part...!

    Cheers.........

And so long as that it pretty much all you want to do, TDA is the answer. DVD Lab Pro isn't really built to do it because it expects that you have correctly created, compliant assets before you begin the authoring stage. The professional and semi-pro market it is aimed at doesn't usually author from downloaded, CD sized movies.

Wouldn't that Playlist thingy in DVD-Lab Pro does that ? Play all the video clips in the Playlist "seamlessly."

Chapters within the same title play pretty much seamlessly, but once you cross titles you can't guarantee smooth sailing.

  10. To those who have used TDA
Are you putting more than one clip in the same VTS? If yes, then would you try verifying whether TDA is first joining up the clips before authring.
You could try demuxing one of your projects' Multi-clip single VTS VOB to verify if you get back moultiple clips or a single stream each for video / audio.

Went through the guide pointed by you. Does it really give a fully compliant DVD_Video disk that would play on at least 90% of the standalones??
