  1. I use dvdlab pro to compile my dvds. .I have to have multiple movies in one dvd....suppose i have five movies namely TIT-1,TIT-2,TIT-3 AND SPEED-1,SPEED-2 .....I take the files one by one. ..adds to the project..... then i want to make a menu.... I take a background and a frame then buttons. then i format the buttons with necesary color when highlighted. then i add text to each button. the text is nothing but the names of the movies. then I link the button with each movie. I link movie one(TIT-1). i get button number 1... Then i link movie number two(TIT-2). I get button number 2. then i link movie number three(TIT-3) I get btn number 3...Then i link movie number four(SPEED-1). ...suddenly --- I get butn number three for movie number four (SPEED-1)and the butn number of movie number three(TIT-3) changes to four. Why this happen. I add each movie in the right order. Even though I get the button number mismatched why ...plz suggest.

The number is allocated based on the order you link them in, not create them.

However the real question is : who cares ?

Turn off Auto-route and route the buttons the way you want them to travel. Then the number has no meaning.

One reason someone might want the button numbers to be "sequential" is if they are also relying on the Remote Button Numbers to correspond to the menu choices (so a viewer can press a number to jump to the menu choice).

They number as you connect, however you can change numbering after.
Open Menu and click on Lyrs on side, all buttons will show in window.
There are two yellow squares on top of menu window with gray circle on right bottom side. Use those to move buttons order as you desire.

  5. -thanks for all comments. that is one reason Mr.George.
another reason is when i get the butn numbers in unsequential order the menu item button highlighted property is not available for all buttons. Though i have given the effect to all buttons in the same manner. one or two may show the highlighted color others will not. if the butn order is correct then the highlighted feature when i move the arrow in the remote will be available for all btns.

For your high-lighting issue you need to manually route. Just turn off auto-routing and use the arrows to set how the user moves from button to button. I always do this anyway because auto-routing is very basic.

DVD Lab will route the buttons 1,2,3,4....etc by default. Also #1 button is highlighted be the player by default unless you change it in DVD Lab.
If you want to rout buttons in your own sequence, you have to disable auto rout and use manual like guns1inger say.

I don't understand what you are doing then.

If I create 5 buttons, and link them in order to 5 movies, the buttons will be numbered in order (1 - 5). If, however, I link button 1 to movie 1, then button 2 to movie 2, then button 4 to movie 4, then button 3 to movie 3, and finally button 5 to movie 5, I will get a numbered order 12435 as the buttons are numbered in the order they are linked, not the order they are created, or the order they are placed on the screen.

  10. plz refer to gunslinger post on jan11. line one
it is not happening in my case. i create one button. give attributes. then copy paste five times if i have six movies or four times if i have five movies. then i give text to it. then (right click on the button and link) i link first movie to button i. i get butn 1. then i link movie two to the next butn. i get btn 2. then i link movie three to the next button. all of a sudden the second button number changes to three and the latest linked butn gets btn number two. this is what happens. to make a correction ,...i remove the link and then i mannually drag and drop the movie to make the link .even then i get the same mismatched btn number.

I would suggest you report the issue at the DLP forum at Mediachance : http://www.mmbforums.com/ipb/index.php

The author is a frequent visitor there, so you may well get a fix.

I do not know what version of Lab you have , but there is an update which fixes some problems created in last updates.
I do not know if this will help, but try it.

You do not have to remove links to change button numbers, just open menu and do what I sugested in post from Jan9/08. Post#1797639

Open Menu and click on Lyrs on side, all buttons will show in window.
There are two yellow squares on top of menu window with gray circle on right bottom side. Use those to move buttons order as you desire.
