    Does any DVD player have visualizations (ala WinAmp's AVS or Milk Drop, for instance) when playing music? Do any players shuffle or random play MP3 disks? If not, Why not?

    There is only one and thats the xbox360
    They dont do them for standard dvd players because they dont see the demand.

    Yeah, so why bother with being able to play music on them at all...I'd buy one if it had a good shuffle and visuals. For now, I guess the Laptop is as good as it gets.

    Not quite a DVD player, but a modded Xbox (not a xbox 360) with the Xbox Media Center (XBMC) will play DVDs, does Winamp Milkdrop visualizations, and will shuffle/random play mp3 discs. Nothing else I can think of even comes close to doing what you are asking.
