Hi Everybody,
This topic could fit under a lot of places, so please forgive me if you take umbrage with its placement.
I am trying to figure out if there is software that will take an MP3, and generate video output of visualizations for the music. Ideally, I would like something that can do this with command line functionality. I am hoping to take lots of my favorite music, make visualizations of them, then put the song in the audio component of the video using Mencoder, and then make it into a fabulous DVD! I am going to play the DVD at a party that I am throwing, so the idea is to have a portable, infallible source of music and entertainment.
If anybody has any helpful advice or direction to give me, i would appreciate it.
Thank you!

There's probably a lot of better ways to do this, but
1)Winamp ---> Load files in a playlist
2) Winamp Visualization Plugins

3)Camstudio Screen Video Capture

4) Encode to DVD -
I really appreciate this response, but this is far too time consuming. I was hoping for something much more self contained and possibly automated. A batch-capable command line utility would be puuuurfect!

Since you want a simpler way, how about this?...
Use PC with SVideo/Composite out.
Use DVD recorder (use appropriate/corresponding connectors).
Record while playing playlist out through that port.
Finalize. DONE.

AudioGraph is the only (and semi-decent) audio visualization plug-in for Avisynth
available so far. But I presume it looks "too nerdish" to most people.

[ EDIT/UPDATE ]
There is ViewAudio as well. IMO, it's even less attractive than AudioGraph.

Is it irony that one of the 'simple' methods above involves using hardware that my computer doesn't have? But thanks for the Svideo suggestion all the same.
I've continued researching on this topic on my own, and it seems that lots of the kinds of software that I am after are called "VJ" software. The closest thing that I've found to what I want is SXVU player. Unfortunately, it demands a super awesome graphics card that I simply dont have. If I really have to, I might try and use DigitalSheep data to fill the video tracks, but I'd rather have something that at least hints at matching the music.
Thank you to everyone that has posted, maybe I'll figure out how to clump together a few programs in slave mode to get this done.
