I have Original DVD's of Friday, Next Friday and Friday After Next. Is it possible to put all three of these movies onto one DVD-R and keep the Menus, etc.? I have DVD Shrink and DVD Decrypter. Can I use these programs to do this? Can anyone tell me how to do this, if it is possible? Thanks in advance!

  2. Yes, you can, but you really don't want to do these. The video is going to be really low, low quality. Worst than a messed VHS tape.

How to : Use DVD shrink 3.2, and rip each movie without compression to their own folders on HD. then use DVDshrink 3.2 reauthor mode, and add these movies from files, into one final movie, select automatic, and DVDshrink will pack the three movies into one for you.

OK, thanks! Is there anyway to improve the quality? Such as leaving the Menus, etc. out? I also just downloaded DVDLab Version: 1.3. Would that be better? Thanks again!

the only way I would bother doing this is if you are going to use a +Dual Layered disc, otherwise even after editing extras/credits from all three movies, the video is still going to be low qualit especially if burned to a singel layer dvd

I have never used a Dual Layer Disc before. Is using them like using a normal DVD-R (Besides more space, of course)? Thanks again!

For a single layer DVD disc the 3 hour mark is about the most you would want to fill up the DVD before the quality starts to take a very noticeable shit look to it.

Some are OK with as much as 4 hours but beyond 4 hours ... forget about it.

I have no idea how long these movies are but assuming they are at least 90 minutes each you are looking at 4 1/2 hours which is beyond the "breaking" point of good to excellent quality.

However if you used a Dual Layer DVD then it would most likely be A-OK but authoring Dual Layer DVD discs is still really tricky.

Backing up a DL DVD to a DL DVD is one thing as it is just a simple copy but backing up 3 movies to a DL DVD means doing it manual and that means you will need a good DVD authoring program.

Maybe someone can suggest something ... so far I've stayed away from DL DVD burning.

  10. You can set the layer break in PgcEdit, then create an ISO and burn to dual-layer. Considering the nature of the OP's question, however, that may be too advanced.

If you don't want to try that, then there's single-layer DVDR. You could reauthor in DVDShrink, save with no compression, then re-encode at half D1 with DVDRebuilder. That would be approx VHS resolution, fairly good. I would never cram that much runtime onto a single-layer DVDR at full D1 resolution. JMO.

As to retaining menus, you'd have to use something like DvdRemakePro, not free.

    Good luck.

  11. Well, if you wanted to convert them all to xvid 1st, and then reconvert back to a dvd compliant format with something like Convertxtodvd the results could be very acceptable.

    Worst advice ever.

It'll look like crap on anything bigger than 20 inches.

I authored a dl disc with TDA and it worked out fine. I put 2 dvd movies (no extras/languages) on a disc, created a simple menu and then burned with copytodvd.

The best way to convert something is to use the best source. If you convert to XviD first, you already lose quality. Then reconvert back to DVD? He's got the original DVDs so the best source are those.
