I'm pretty new here but I think you might be able to find some tutorial information at http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=158915 (that's where I got the program from)

I have the program but unfortunately I can't add subtitles because even though I have the component "subtitlesource.ax filter" I don't know how to install it.

Just copy the ax into Windows/system, where all the other AX files are, should do it, on, and type at a command prompt "regsvr32.exe /r subtitlesource.ax" to register it.

I just downloaded it and it appears to be something on the sophistication of Sub Station Alpha, but with a modern interface, with WAY more features than one needs. If you just need simple subtitle software, I recommend Visual SubSync or Subtitle Workshop.
